Do you really need to work out to lose weight?

Do you really have to exercise to lose weight? In my journey to lose weight, I tried to restrict my calorie intake and not exercise. It's all about a calorie deficit, isn't it? I noticed that I'd do well in the first half of the day by restricting my food intake to a light breakfast and zero calorie drinks like tea and coffee. What I noticed was that in the evening, I would “reward” myself with a large dinner.  I started noticing that I would then eat junk food at night so I started going to sleep early to prevent this. Sleeping early helped curb my calorie intake at night but I wasn’t losing any weight.  I realized I had to exercise. When your goal is weight loss, you have to burn calories. Restricting your movement throughout the day because you are too weak to move or don't want to move around too much out of fear that it will cause you to be hungry is not going to help. Your body needs to burn calories. By combining calorie counting and exercise...

Lost five pounds!

So I started watching my weight and exercising about a month ago and I lost 5 pounds. So you may ask why should I take advice from you? You're completely right. But I am happy about my 5 pound weight loss because it's 5 pounds of progress and hard work. I am just happy I am not in the same position I was in 1 month ago, it's great. This is what I have learned so far: 1) You need to make sacrifices: For about 3 weeks, I would go exercise but not amend my diet too much and saw little progress. I realize you do have to cut back on what you eat. When you are not motivated to exercise, you have to realize not everything in your journey is going to be fun but you are sacrificing your time and effort for the end goal. Make a sacrifice, not it's not going to be easy each and every time but try to push yourself, you can do it. And if you don't, pick yourself back up and try and try and try. 2) Use measuring cups: weight loss is about portion control. You need to look a...

Tips in the shower

Hey guys, I have some tips on how to save time in the shower and get the most out of it. 1. Buy soap for your body. I have always used creamy soaps so my skin won't get dry as I don't wear lotion every single time I take a shower. But what I noticed is that my skin already has a milky smell to it which I never liked. You have to find something that counterbalances your natural smell if it is something you want to improve. I looked for a Himalayan Scrub partly due to intuition and partly because I read that Himalayan salt detoxifies your skin and have natural minerals.  This one in particular is great, they even gave me a promo code to get a free scrub which was a very pleasant surprise. The one I bought has a mild smell that stays with you. As someone who does not wear perfume often, this is great for me because it smooths out my skin and leaves a great mild, scent on my skin and clothes that is not overpowering. It's great! 2. Use a shower glove. Not only does thi...

Cardio

Wow! I just saw a video about weight loss using cardio vs. weights and what it said was so true. Here  is the link in case you are interested. I feel so bad for myself for all the cardio I did in the past. It seems so pointless. Some of the main points are: 1) The muscles you workout while doing cardio are not your large muscles so you are working out parts of your body that do not require much energy so you have to run for a long time to burn an amount of calories that will lead to significant weight loss. Think about the difference in the way a marathon runner looks versus a bodybuilder. 2) You have to spend much less time in the gym lifting weights than you do on the treadmill because it is more efficient. 3) Muscles keep burning fat more efficiently even when you are not in the gym. This is called Excess Post-Exercise Oxygen Consumption or EPOC for short. 4) Working out your larger muscles directly burns your fat not the carbs you consumed that day. 5) While cardio...

Instagram pages I recommend!

Hey guys, Instagram has been a great inspiration for me and I find myself on the social media platform a lot these days so I thought I'd share three instagram pages that I like to follow and inspire me the most: 1) lady_steph_fitlife 24.9K followers She is so inspirational! She is on insta due to her Herbalife business but I follow her for inspiration. I do not purchase Herbalife products and she herself does not even say you have to take the products to have a life. She went from working a 9-to-5 job to buying a life and taking control of her time. She pushes herself with 3 kids, a home, etc. and as a single woman she inspires me and she will inspire you to workout and get up and take control of your life too! She posts insta stories regularly and they are great to keep up with! 2) C_l_o 609K followers This is my favorite fashion artist on instagram. His posts are so mesmerizing. Everytime I see a post that catches my eye on my feed, I look up and see that it is on C_l_o...

No purchases!

Hi guys! I'm finally going to write a post that requires no purchases HAHA! Here are some life hacks that I find useful for a lazy girl who's trying to live her best life like me: 1) Freeze your fruits - this is the easiest thing you will do with the best health benefits. I don't like the idea of buying frozen fruits but I am often reluctant to eat fruits because of the texture (eg. bananas) or because they will run out quickly and they are super expensive (eg. raspberries). I found that freezing them allows me to eat a healthy snack with a nice smooth crunch (if that makes any sense). Just leave them in the freezer for 1 to 3 hours depending on the strength of your freezer. You will need a container for this. I always put fruits away now because you may want to make a smoothy or fruit bowl on a certain day and you'll have the fruit ready for you to use! 2) Hair loss? Cut your hair - This is a must. I had hair that hung 3 inches under my shoulders and due to ...

Lots of gadget posts!

Sorry for all the posts on things you should buy but that's just what I find the most helpful at the moment. I'll change things up soon. These posts are by no means insinuating that you have to buy things to do things right, I'm simply sharing nifty things I have found helpful that I never knew about before. Today, I got a flexible cell phone holder in the mail. I'll post an update on how it goes! I need it because I am on my phone A LOT and it would be so convenient to prop it somewhere and just watch instead of progressively getting carpal tunnel. Health first! :) Thanks for reading! ~ES Edit 1 day later: This gadget has revolutionized my life people, get it!

Cleaning alternative

Hey guys! So I would recommend a mechanical spinning brush to clean like this I know it's super random but it is a lifesaver. I doubt my bathroom would ever see a brush or cleaning supplies in general without it. Good luck ya'll!

Submitted for Editing

I couldn't wait and I submitted my ebook - Are You Lost: Advice to Teens From a Reluctant Christian - for editing before even showing the book to anyone. I want to publish it raw and get people's reactions. I just fear it will change a lot if I share the book which are a reflection of my thoughts with people. Let's see how this goes. Next step is formatting and then self-publishing!

New Post 2

I have a 5 year journal I write in. Its great. Here is the same exact one I have: One Line a Day: A Five-Year Memory Book It allows you several lines to write in per day. On that same page, you will see four other sections for you to write in the following years. I've had mine for about a month and while I have not needed to look back on anything, it is nice to know that I can. I have terrible memory! I would suggest this alternative to a traditional journal to anyone who overthinks, is busy and/or has bad memory. Aside from that, it is nice to be able to look back at any day and know what you did. The brevity of each section allows you to write a quick note so you are not deterred from writing everyday, as opposed to a journal where people tend to skip days. I'm happy I found this in my local Target store because I really like journaling but traditional journals made me rant a lot and I did not want to spend my time dwelling on things. Hope this helps! Good luck ...

New Post

Haven't posted in a while. Wrote the second draft of my new ebook Are You Lost: Advice to Teens From A Reluctant Christian today! Super excited. I was inspired to keep writing by a neighbor of mine. I want to put it down for a week so I can edit it with fresh eyes and send it off to be formatted and finally get it self-published! Will obviously post link on here when complete. Peace 🕊
